NSW Pink Slips & Rego Checks in Unanderra

Need a pink slip or rego check in Unanderra? Unanderra Tyres & Mechanical provides NSW safety inspections to help get your vehicle ready for registration renewal.

A pink slip, officially known as a Safety Inspection Report, confirms that your vehicle meets the required safety standards for registration in NSW.

When Do I Need a Pink Slip in NSW?

Most light vehicles more than 5 years old require a safety inspection each year before registration can be renewed.

This commonly includes:

  • Passenger cars
  • Motorcycles
  • Light commercial vehicles
  • Trailers and caravans up to 4.5 tonnes ATM

Your NSW registration renewal notice will tell you whether a safety inspection is required before you can renew your registration.

The 5-year exemption period is generally calculated from the month and year shown on the vehicle's compliance information.

How Long Is a NSW Pink Slip Valid?

A NSW pink slip for most light vehicles is valid for 6 months from the date of inspection.

Your registration must be renewed within that 6-month period for the inspection report to remain valid.

What Happens During a Rego Check?

A pink slip inspection is designed to confirm that your vehicle is safe and roadworthy for continued use on NSW roads.

Our authorised examiner will inspect the vehicle in accordance with NSW safety inspection requirements. If the vehicle passes, the inspection result is submitted electronically to Transport for NSW, allowing you to continue with your registration renewal.

What Happens if My Vehicle Fails the Inspection?

If a safety issue is identified, the vehicle will need to be repaired before the registration can be renewed.

If the required repairs are completed and the vehicle is returned to the same inspection station within 14 days, it can be reassessed without an additional inspection fee.

If the 14-day period expires, a new inspection and inspection fee will generally be required.

Pink Slip or Blue Slip – What's the Difference?

A pink slip is generally required for the annual registration renewal of eligible NSW vehicles.

A blue slip, also known as an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection, is a more detailed inspection that may be required when a vehicle has been unregistered for more than 3 months, is being registered in NSW after coming from interstate or overseas, or in certain other circumstances.
